What is Muno-IgY
The “IgY” in Muno-IgY is Immunoglobulin from Yolk and is the major antibody produced by hens. IgY are the ancestral antibodies equivalent to IgG antibodies in humans. As such, they are not rejected by the human immune system and the antibodies remain in the digestive tract.
The big challenge for this science has been one of cost and or effectiveness. In the lab, highly pure (95%) IgY can cost $500-$1000 per gram. This is the IgY that has been known to work with specific viral and bacterial applications. Although highly effective, it is not commercially viable. IGY Immune Technologies and Life Sciences, Inc.'s patented technology extracts IgY at 25-90% purity at a much lower cost. In the commercial world of IgY, four companies around the world use a similar model of using dried whole egg powder, which yields about 3-5% IgY, but requires large quantities to be fully effective. The powdered egg may also cause other issues consumers want to avoid. These programs have been in existence for over 20 years, and have IgY in products ranging from yogurts, toothpaste, capsules, powders and even dog treats! Our "no-waste" approach The remaining egg yolk and egg white are not chemically altered or damaged during the extraction process and thereby can be safely reintroduced back into the food production cycle. Our IgY is extracted from antibiotic-free eggs from our plant Alberta, Canada. |
IGY Life Sciences is the only manufacturer of high purity IgY protein antibodies used in affordable and effective capsules.
